Being a car guy sucks. Even if you are happy with your current car, you are always looking for the next one. I had no idea MINI’s were so reasonable used until I was browsing Carmax and found this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for under $19,000.

I know the Paceman is one of the less popular models because it is a two door version of the massive four door version of the two door hardtop. However, looking at it more and more, I’m realizing it is actually a perfect replacement for my C30.

Both are a funky two door hatch thing that seats four. This being an S model means it’ll move out of own its way and being a MINI means it should handle pretty well, despite its size.

And wow! That interior looks amazing. I love the BRG and saddle brown color combo.

The seats are heated. Panoramic sunroof. Cruise control. Paddle shifters. Sirius XM built in, Bluetooth built in... (all things my car is lacking)

I’m really considering one of these very soon to replace my Volvo.

There’s a reason for that...

What's wrong with the Volvo?

Honest opinion

... they are alright cars (‘10 cooper s) but they have bmw-esque problems. The newer ones miss out on the timing chain bullshit but I already needed rotors at 35,000 miles, I expect my clutch to go out at 80k, and the simplest things are completely stupid. The oil is obnoxiously difficult to check (and they do consume oil new) and the oil drain plug isn’t in the lowest part of the pan. Misc trim parts use stupid plastic hinges that break quickly, and new keys are 300$.

Ton of fun to drive, the manual is geared WAY to short. Extremely comfortable, interior is nice (minus the god damn vanity mirror cover) and has very good space utilization.

I like my mini, but I don’t love it. And for god’s sake don’t buy the non-s models.

Recently, I test drove a 2010 Mini Cooper (base, NOT S) with 24K miles for $10,000 at my Volvo dealer.

That car was a blast. It was weirdly quick for being a base model but holy hell was it fun to toss into a corner.

However, I wasn’t sure if that charm would last forever. The back seat was useless. The trunk was useless. The panoramic roof didn’t work. There was a CEL on. It wasn’t perfect.

It was so much fun to drive, but didn’t seem like a good daily in all honesty.

Thats why I was hoping the Paceman might be a bit different. It’s bigger, more luxurious, and a little more grown up.

Also, I would totally buy it from Carmax just for the warranty.

I don’t have a family, so I am either hauling stuff or 3 friends (often) and it is perfect for me. With a small amount of performance parts they become just the right level of fast.

That’s what Carmax is for ;)

Volvo is showing its age right now. I’ve got some weird popping noise coming from the front end that four shops couldn’t diagnose (it comes and goes too which is fun) but they all hear it. They just don’t know what it is. My AC doesn’t blow very cold (although I’ve been told its operating as designed), I’m lucky to get 16 MPG, it has felt a little down on power lately (haven’t changed anything fuel wise or driving style)

And Im also in a stupid situation with it. My interest is high because no one wanted to put a loan on an 08 car and its in grandma’s name since i wasn’t 18 at the time.

Getting rid of it would solve my payment and insurance issues

I’ve been told that Mini’s are one of the brands that gets returned the most at CarMax, either during the 5 day return period or after less than a year of ownership.

I don’t know why I am also starting to get attracted by the fat Mini’s.

A JCW Paceman with a stick and AWD seems awesome in my book.

Like I was saying to someone else on here, I recently drove an older Cooper base model and it was so much fun. Iy was loud somewhat quick. And handled stupidly well. However, I don’t know if it was something I would be able to live with every day as a daily driver.

That’s why I was kinda hoping this newer, bigger one is more easy to live with.

The Paceman is actually my favorite Mini. The seating position in that fits me to a T! I’ve never sat in anything else that fit me so well. it’s almost as if it was tailored just for me. I’d buy one on seating position alone.

I actually spotted this one in a small shit town on a reacent road trip.

I really do like the styling on it!

And I read somewhere that the seating position is fantastic on it. I’m curious about it now. Shame Carmax is about 1.5 hours from me

I felt the same way when I was looking at one. I haven't driven a paceman yet, but I do like the size of the countryman

I think I was the only C30 on here but now I know of two others...

Maybe this will let me be the only one..

Also, hey!
